Ukkohalla

The Ukkohalla ski centre is located in the Municipality of Hyrynsalmi, only 30 minutes drive from Suomussalmi centre. The idyllic and pleasant holiday apartments and cabins of the resort have been constructed on the slopes surrounding Lake Syväjärvi, a mere stone’s throw away from Hallan Saaga, the resort centre.  

The Hallan Saaga world of experiences includes: a Finnish and Karelian sauna, Russian banya, a peat sauna, Ural Mountain sauna cave, Jacuzzi and aqua massage pool, small children’s pool and hot tubs. The restaurant services of the region also operate in the same building.

The hilly landscapes with an abundance of snow are perfectly suited for snowmobiling and snowshoe hiking enthusiasts. Downhill skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the Snowboard Park, and the 16 slopes, six of which are illuminated. Cross-country skiing trails cover 160 km. 

Syväjärvi is the location of Finland’s first and world’s northernmost Cable Wakeboard Centre. Surfers, skateboarders and snowboarders have discovered this new sport where big air and spectacular stunts are done at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

Ukkohalla has become well known among thousands of soccer players with the Swamp Soccer World Championship Tournament arranged each July. In winter, February is the time for the Snow Soccer Tournament.
