Nature Centers

Petola and Hossa Visitor Centres give information on the national parks, history of the area, advice on trekking, and sell hunting and fishing permits. The Visitor Centres' shops sell maps, books, cards and other souvenirs. In both the Visitor Centres you can make reservations for Metsähallitus wilderness lodges. Guided tours on pre-order.

Finland’s four large carnivores - brown bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine - are presented in the Petola Visitor Centre in Kuhmo. Do you know how long is a bears winter sleep or how does the wolf pack live? What does the lynx coat feel like or how small wolverine actually is? These and many other facts about carnivores are found out in Petola’s exhibitions.
